WEIGHT FORWARD (WF) - This line has most of its weight in the first thirty feet or so behind the point in the belly of the line. Behind the back taper the rest is fine diameter running line. Weight forward floating lines are perhaps the most popular lines in fly fishing. This makes sence because most casters don't throw much beyond forty or fifty feet making a long belly is unnecessary. When a longer cast is called for, the heavy taper up front pulls the rest of the line along with the similar dynamics of a spin caster throwing a line with weighted split shot.
